Conceptualizing Environments Through the Lens of Engineering and Technology

Hi! I am Yuxin Yang, a computational design engineer. I embed technology into environmental systems—mostly “(wild) water”—and urban systems.

I am currently employed as a full-time computational strategist at Sherwood Design Engineers, where I initiated the computational practice with leadership support in 2023 and where the practice has since grown into a team of four. Professionally, I am most proud of my work on Middle East territorial environmental masterplanning projects, Detroit neighborhood planning initiatives, and AI-for-AEC sponsored research. I have worked with inventive design firms and research institutions including Interboro Partners, SOM, SWA Group, URBANGENE, Zhuyufan Studio at Tsinghua University, and the Shanghai Study Center of the University of Hong Kong.

I have dual academic backgrounds in landscape architecture from Harvard Graduate School of Design and in computer science through the MCIT program at the University of Pennsylvania. I also cross-registered at the MIT Media Lab and EECS for an IoT shoreline idea during my studies. I earned my Bachelor of Engineering from Southeast University’s School of Architecture in China.

This website primarily features work from my academic studies, and I am working to update it more regularly.
